It is always energizing to discover a pleasant place to stay after another stressful day on the road. We are holding up in Tulcan, Ecuador this evening….not too far from the Colombian border.  We rode in beautiful weather today in the fantastic high altitude farm country above Quito.

Tulcan is about 10,000 ft elevation. It is a very unique place. Rather quaint with a touch of oriental influence. In fact, we are staying in the Palacio Imperial. The rooms and lobby are pretty nice compared to the town – let’s just say it’s a bit tired.

Although there’s a lot of energy here now that we have arrived. I have become somewhat of a spectacle. The streets are crowded….and I was the only one, the ONLY one, with shorts on.

So, here we are having a Chinese dinner… in Northern Ecuador. Go figure.
